This qualification allows you to specialise in either homelessness support work or social housing.
The course covers the skills and knowledge you’ll need to communicate with and support a diverse range of people including Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and recent migrants to Australia. You’ll learn how to recognise and respond to domestic violence, and work with people who are at risk of homelessness. Other skills and knowledge you'll gain include supporting sustainable tenancies, representing clients in court, conducting community meetings, responding to behaviours of concern, visiting client residences, and much more.

In this course, you’ll develop the skills and knowledge you need to become a qualified housing officer, providing compassionate, trauma-informed and person-centred housing support services to applicants and tenants in the social housing and homelessness sector.
You’ll learn how to help people access accommodation within the public and community housing system and how to effectively sustain tenancies and achieve better client and tenant outcomes.
On successful completion, you will be skilled and knowledgeable to work with vulnerable people who could be experiencing or are at risk of experiencing homelessness, have complex mental health issues, experiencing family and domestic violence, or considerable financial stress or community disengagement.
