Delivery location
PSP50922 - Diploma of Interpreting will develop your skills and knowledge to interpret between two languages, in general dialogue and monologue settings and control the interaction to assist retention and recall. The Diploma of Interpreting prepares interpreters for work typically in the community and business domains, including sectors such as general health, welfare and community services, educational and social contexts, and tourism. As well as interactions such as initial police interviews, over the counter interviews in customer and community information services, non-complex disability assistance, and other informal business and workplace interactions. This course goes for 15 months - 45 weeks (including four (4) face-to-face weekend workshops):
- Term 1 – 10 weeks (5 hours per week)
- Term 2 – 9 weeks (6 hours per week)
- Term 3 – 9 weeks (6 hours per week)
- Term 4 – 8 weeks (6 hours per week)
- Term 5 – 9 weeks (6 hours per week)
Face-to-face and live online sessions are timetabled in the relevant Course Guide. Outside this time, students are expected to complete approximately 10 hours per week for individual study, online learning, revision and processing of information from class activities, research and preparation of assessments, and community contact. In addition to this, students will be required to physically attend four (4) weekend workshops throughout the duration of the course.
